Do not buy a .cc domain under any circumstances
Three weeks ago, I bought a .cc domain and started building my website. Everything went fine until I noticed that my sitemap wouldn’t get indexed in Google Search Console. The constant error was: “Sitemap could not be read.”
After three weeks, only the homepage was indexed. None of the inner pages appeared in Google search results. I tried almost everything to fix it:
- Installed a fresh WordPress setup.
- Switched hosting providers.
- Changed server locations between different countries.
- Tested both direct DNS and CDN setups.
- Used multiple sitemap generators. (Yoast SEO, RankMath, and the default WordPress sitemap)
Nothing worked.
After a lot of testing and research, I found out that Google has had indexing issues with .cc domains for years. In the end, I had to completely change my domain extension to get indexed properly. If you’re planning to launch a new website, even if the .cc domain name looks appealing or available, do not buy it. It will waste your time, effort, and SEO potential.
