Our First Python Class at JDHonar

Last week, we wrapped up our very first introductory Python class at the Arts Unit of Jihad University, JDHonar. The class pictured here has 7 of the 12 amazing students who joined. The others preferred privacy, which we fully respected.

Seeing this small group brought back memories of my very first programming class in November 2011, when I learned my first programming language, Visual Basic 6. I still remember the excitement, the curiosity, and the little “aha” moments that make learning to code so special.

This class was unique for JDHonar. Given the branch’s focus on arts and humanities, there was initial hesitation about introducing a programming course. Thanks to my suggestion and collaboration, we went ahead, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience.

The feedback from this cohort has already encouraged the education team at JDHonar to take tech education more seriously, opening the door for future programming and tech courses in an arts-focused environment.

Proud to have been part of this first step bridging arts and technology and grateful for such an enthusiastic, engaged group of learners.
