In March 2026, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Sofrei Ba To Rang Migirad 7, a charity event organized by Yeki Hastim NGO.

The project name translates as “The Table Becomes More Colorful With You.” After participating in the event, I recognized how precisely this name reflected its purpose. Each volunteer contributed something valuable: time, energy, care, and a willingness to help.

The goal of the event was to prepare essential food and hygiene packages for families in need. More than 100 volunteers came together, working side by side to assemble and prepare 1,000 boxes. Each box contained 16 essential items selected to support a family’s everyday needs.

For seven consecutive hours, the event space was characterized by constant activity. Volunteers organized products, assembled boxes, packed supplies, sealed packages, and prepared them for distribution. Each task was interconnected, making teamwork and coordination essential.

Initially, packing boxes may appear to be a straightforward task. In practice, it demanded concentration, patience, communication, and consistency. With hundreds of participants and thousands of items involved, even minor contributions influenced the overall workflow.

I was most impressed by the collective energy among the volunteers. Individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets worked toward a shared objective. Some had participated in similar projects previously, while others were new to volunteering. Despite these differences, everyone quickly integrated into the team.

Observing each empty cardboard box gradually transform into a complete care package was particularly meaningful. Each box was more than a collection of products; it represented practical support for a family and demonstrated that organized community action can yield tangible results.

By the end of the event, 1,000 packages had been prepared for 1,000 families.

While that number is significant, the experience encouraged me to look beyond statistics. Each package reflected the efforts of individuals who volunteered their time. Each recipient family had its own story, household, and specific needs.

This volunteering experience reinforced that social impact is seldom the result of a single dramatic action. Instead, it emerges from numerous small, coordinated efforts. One person opens a box, another organizes the products, someone checks the contents, and another seals the package. Individually, these actions may appear ordinary, but collectively, they produce meaningful outcomes.

The experience also shifted my perspective on responsibility. It is common to assume that major institutions or substantial financial resources are required to address large social challenges. However, this event demonstrated that individuals play a crucial role as well. While we may not resolve every issue, we can contribute our time, skills, and attention to meaningful causes.

Participating in Sofrei Ba To Rang Migirad 7 provided more than an opportunity to prepare food packages. It allowed me to experience the strength of collaboration and to witness what can be achieved when individuals act collectively.

Seven hours of effort produced 1,000 packages, yet the day’s true impact extends beyond quantitative measures.

For me, the experience served as a reminder that empathy gains significance when translated into action.

At times, initiating meaningful change begins with the simple act of showing up.
