The Hidden Problem in Many Talk Based Podcasts

I have been thinking about a common issue in many talk based podcasts. The host invites a guest, but instead of creating space for the guest to share insights, the host speaks most of the time. This turns the conversation into a monologue that misses the value the guest could bring.
A good talk based podcast depends on listening. When a host interrupts too often or tries to steer every moment, the audience loses the chance to hear new perspectives. People follow these podcasts because they want to learn from the guests and hear their unique stories. When the balance shifts, the podcast loses its purpose.
Great hosts guide the conversation with thoughtful questions. They let guests speak. They stay curious, not dominant. They understand that their role is to open doors, not close them.
If we want better podcasts, we need better conversations. And better conversations start with giving others room to talk.
